What is Promise to pay (PTP)?

A promise to pay is a debtor’s commitment to pay a specific amount by a specific date, usually made on a collection call.

Example

On a call, the debtor’s AP manager promises ₹3.3 L by Friday. If ₹2 L arrives by Friday, the promise is partly kept; if nothing arrives, it is broken.

Why it matters

Promises are where collections are won or lost. A promise nobody tracks is just a delay. Kept-rate per debtor is also one of the best predictors of who will pay next time.

In Creditouch

Promises are checked against the money that actually arrives. Reminders pause while a promise is pending, and a broken promise puts the account straight back on Today.
