About DSO

What is a good DSO?

It depends on your payment terms. A useful rule: compare DSO with your average terms. Net 30 terms and a DSO near 30–40 days is healthy; a DSO far above your terms means customers pay late.

What is best possible DSO?

Best possible DSO uses only receivables that are not yet due. It’s the DSO you would have if every customer paid exactly on time. The gap between it and your DSO is the average number of days customers pay late.

Which period should I use?

Use 90 days for a steady view, 30 days to see recent change, and 12 months for seasonal businesses. Use the same period every time you compare.
